In Earning Through Learning — The story of Randolph Community College, Clark Adams shares many of the highlights of Randolph Community College’s history from its beginnings as a dream of local community leaders in 1957 to its role as a comprehensive community college and integral part of the civic, cultural, educational, and economic landscapes of both Randolph County and North Carolina. From its opening as the Randolph Industrial Education Center in 1962, the college has remained focused on its original mission of meeting community needs by providing trade and technical training as well as services for businesses and industry, while also offering preparation for transferring to a four-year college or university, courses for self-enrichment, and opportunities to complete a high school diploma. The book illustrates many significant events and individuals who have contributed to the college’s story for over sixty years and makes the case for why RCC will enjoy a bright future of continuing the same standard of excellence for which the college is known.
